Trailer Brakes Only Working With Manual Override on 2011 GMC Sierra
Question:
I have an 47235 controller in my 2011 gmc sierra 1500 and it will not display numbers or active trailerbrakes when the truck brakes are applied. Trailer brakes will work with the manual button. But only at full power. Thanks

If your trailer brakes are only working when you apply the manual override the issue is commonly the red wire - the stop light switch. Make sure it is connected to the circuit that that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied. The issue with not displaying numbers does make me think that the brake controller may have hit the fritz and need to be replaced though, and this would be true if the numbers never display, even when using the manual override.
For your 2011 GMC Sierra a great option for a brake controller that is high-quality but at a much better price point then similar controllers is the Brake EVN Brake Controller # TK63VR.
To install this you'll also need the Brake Control Plug-In Harness # 20127.
The I-Command is going to give you smooth braking, is easy to use, and has a bright display that is simple to read and understand. For a combination of quality, reliability, and price, there really isn't a better option than the I-Command. I have added a link to a video review as well as help articles for you which I recommend checking out.
