I verified with my contact at Derale that the Derale Hyper-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D15960, will work to bypass your radiator and cool your transmission fluid. One important thing to consider when installing a transmission cooler is the size of your transmission lines. If the diameter of your transmission lines are 1/2 inch in diameter, then you will want to go with the transmission cooler that you referenced. If your transmission lines are 3/8 inch in diameter, then you will want the Hyper-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D13960.

Once you remove the transmission lines from the radiator, you will probably want to use compression fittings to attach the rubber hose to the transmission lines if they are metal. The metal lines most likely will not line up with the inlets on the cooler. It is recommended to install a transmission cooler in front of the radiator or AC condenser, but these are remote mount units that can be installed where you have the space.

It is important that you remember to plug the radiator inlet and outlet to ensure they do not continue to leak.

If you choose to mount the cooler further away from the radiator, then you will likely need an additional length of hose. I would recommend looking into our remote mounting kits # D13022 for 3/8 inch lines or # D13023 for 1/2 inch lines. These kits include an additional hose, compression fittings and the mounting hardware. If you just want the compression fittings, then look at # D13032 for 3/8 inch lines or # D13033 for 1/2 inch lines.

I have attached two FAQ articles on transmission coolers for you to check out.
