There is an easy way to set up a brake controller for the right amount of braking for any load. If the controller has a boost feature like the P3 you referenced, # 90195, then before setting boost follow these steps:
Connect trailer to tow vehicle. With the engine running set the power (with Power Buttons) to indicate 6.0. Drive the truck and trailer on a dry level paved surface (like an empty parking lot) at 25 mph and fully apply Manual Override Knob.
If the brakes lock up adjust the power down. If they do not lock up then adjust the power up. Perform the test again until you reach a power setting that applies the brakes just under lockup.
To add additional braking you can set the boost. Level 1 provides a higher initial amount of power when you start braking. Level 2 is even more and level 3 is the highest. Try it without boost first and then for a 5,600 pound trailer if boost is needed you will probably be fine with level 1.
