Recommended Weight Distribution System for 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 3 Lift

Question:

Hello! thanks for your time. Im a little lost about weight distribution hitchs. I Have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999 with factory towing package. I has 3 inch lift. So probably I will need a weight distribution hitch with at least 3 . I will be receiving my RV tomorrow to take measures. the tongue weight of the trailer is 500 dry. Do you have any weight distribution hitch that has around 600 tongue and a of 3 ? Most I saw are 1 or no . THANKS

We have just what you're looking for, but since weight distribution hitches don't come with rise/drop adapters, you'll need to add one after the fact. I recommend starting with the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # RP66083, which has a tongue weight range of 400-lbs to 800-lbs, so it will work well for your trailer that has a dry tongue weight of 500-lbs (likely as much as 600-lbs loaded). This WD system has integrated dual cams to help stop sway before it starts, so it's going to take a lot of the white knuckling out of your towing experience. This system does not come with a hitch ball, so you'll need one with a 1-1/4" shank diameter like the # A-90 (2" hitch ball) or # 19286 (2-5/16" hitch ball).

When it comes to dealing with the lift on your tow vehicle, you will need a rise/drop shank for your Reese WD system like the # RP3215 which works with the trunnion bars on the # RP66083 and will provide you up to 5-3/4" of drop in that setup. I do recommend checking out the article I attached on how to measure what type of rise/drop ball mount you need, taking the measurement and then choosing one that will work best for your application- you may be able to get away with a shorter one.

I've also linked an informational videos on this WD system for you to have a look at.
