Weight Distribution Hitch for 2015 Shasta Airflite Trailer

Question:

I have a 2015 Shasta Airflite reissue. I already have a Curt anti- sway bar installed. I am looking for a weight distribution hitch for it. The camper weighs about 3,000 and the tongue weight is around 300 lbs. What are the options that will work for me. Thanks

When choosing a weight distribution hitch, you're looking for one where the tongue weight falls towards the middle of the range of the prescribed range of the hitch. You should also take into consideration what the loaded tongue weight of your trailer is going to be, since it's going to change when it's fully loaded compared to the dry tongue weight. It should also be noted that when loaded, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of the total weight of the trailer. If your trailer is 3500-lbs fully loaded, your tongue weight should be 350-500lbs.

Taking this into consideration, something like the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # FA94-00-0600 would work well for you. This system would allow your tongue weight to fall towards the middle and it's going to provide you with much better sway control than your Curt sway bar; so it really is a better solution that's at a better price point than most of the other hitches that would allow you to continue using the sway bar.

Because this system does not come with a hitch ball, you'll need to get one compatible with the Fastway. You can use the # EQ91-00-6080 for 2" coupler or the # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16" coupler.

I've linked a review video of this hitch for you to have a look at, as well .
