Where To Install Breakaway Cylinder for Roadmaster BrakeMaster On 1997 Jeep TJ

Question:

There is no room under the hood. Can I install it on the firewall under the dash? There really is no other good place. I do see the note about the compressed air but is there compressed air when the vehicle is disconnected from the RV?

I took a look at the Roadmaster BrakeMaster Braking System with BrakeAway part # RM-9060 and in regards to mounting the breakaway cylinder, the following instructions are given in the manual.

"Choose a location for the air reservoir. The air reservoir is mounted in the towed vehicle, most
often in the engine compartment, but it may be attached anywhere an air line can be routed from the top of the air reservoir to the front of the vehicle, and where the drain valve, at the bottom of the reservoir, is easily accessible."

Therefore, so long as you run an air line to the firewall under the dash then there should not be any issues. In regards to the breakaway cylinder, it will remain charged even while not connected to the motorhome but you can release it if you plan to go months without towing the vehicle.
