Bike Rack Recommendation for 3 Bikes on a 2013 Mazda 5
Question:
Hi, I am looking for some advice on a three bike carrier for a 2013 Mazda 5. We are planning to make a 650 mile highway trip and I want to make sure the carrier will be suitable for such a journey at highway speeds. I would appreciate any product recommendations and advice. Thank you,

For your application I recommend going with the Thule Gateway Pro 3 Bike Rack # TH78VR because it is easy to install and adjust, plus it is the only trunk bike rack for your 2013 Mazda 5 that has cradles spaced 7" apart. All of the other racks have cradles spaced about 5 or 5-1/2" apart and while you wouldn't think that extra 1-1/2" to 2" would make a difference it really does when it comes to loading and unloading the bikes.
This bike rack does come with a cable lock for the bikes and you can lock the bike rack to your vehicle by using the Passive Security Strap # TH533. Please note that if any of your bikes are a kids bike or lacks a horizontal top tube then you'll want to use the Adapter Bar # TH982XT to keep the bike level and promote proper ground clearance.
