Finding Stoplight Circuit for Brake Controller Install in 2012 Volkswagen Touareg

Question:

Hello, After watching the installation video using a 2012 VW Touareg, which is what I have from Etrailer regarding the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller BC I have a question regarding the output to the 7-pole plug. The video explained how to connect the BC using an after market VW housing unit and 4 wires to plug into the existing brake controller housing under the drivers side dash. I am able to get continuity for all four wires that end up forward of the passenger side rear tail light. From there I can connect product ETBC7 4-pole to 4/7-pole adapter to the wires prewired in the vehicle coming from the BC. I understand the blue wire is the electric brake output, the black wire is 12-Volt power and the white wire is ground. I am unsure where the red wire cold side, brake signal would tie into? I have seen some videos where the red wire is spliced into the wire directly above the brake pedal, but in my case it is within the 4-wire harness that leads to the back of the vehicle. Thank you

Finding the stoplight circuit in a 2012 Volkswagen Touareg is unlike other vehicles out there. You actually have to get a VW harness #1J0-972-782 and 2 wire/terminal assemblies #000-979-228 so that you can create the stoplight circuit source. If you check out the attached help article link I attached you can see the entire process outlined.
