Recommended Thule Kayak Carrier for 2018 Honda CR-V

Question:

Whom it may concern, I have a Honda 2018 CRV with genuine honda rack and crossbars. I would like to know whats the best Thule Kayak holder I can buy. My Kayak is a Hobie Mirage Outlook 2020 full equipped i was looking to this one here below but Im not sure if its Ok Thule Compass Kayak and SUP Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style, Post Style, or Saddle - 2 Kayaks or SUPs Item # TH890000

We do have a solution for you, but the Compass wouldn't be a good choice. The Thule # TH890000 Compass is an awesome Kayak carrier, but it only has a 75 lb weight capacity for a single kayak, so I'm afraid your Hobie Mirage Outback (I think you meant to say Outback, not Outlook) would be too heavy, as it weighs a minimum of 85 lbs.

The Yakima JayLow # Y04073 would be a better choice because of its 130 lb weight capacity. The foot of each J-style carrier has a built in ramp that makes it easier to scoot the kayak from the crossbar onto the carrier. That feature doesn't initially look like a big deal, but if you're trying to wrangle a heavy kayak up onto a car roof believe me, it's a game changer.

The carrier will easily fit onto your crossbars, and includes tow tie down straps and 2 bow/stern tie downs. The carriers are lockable to the crossbars if you add the optional # TH450200 lock cores.
