High Capacity Trailer Hitch for 1985 Chevy C/K Series Pickup
Question:
I have a 1985 K10 Silverado 6’ bed with a bumper on it. I am wondering if this hitch will fit. If not which one will? I would like to get the heavy hitch I can because I plan on hauling a race car as well as heavy equipment. I am not worried about the spare tire cause the mounts have been removed from the frame.

The B&W BWHDRH25198 Class V hitch is indeed a fit for your 1985 Silverado. The hitch has a 16000 lb towing/1600 lb tongue weight capacity, which will be greater than the towing capacity of the vehicle, so so worries about the strength of the hitch.
Assuming that your trailer has electric brakes, you'll need to install a brake controller to actuate them. I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. The Primus is a proportional controller, which provides smooth, safe and predictable braking.
To wire in the controller, it's easiest to begin with a functional 4 pole connector like # C55312 and our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7.
I'll link you to some installation videos and help articles that you might find beneficial. The brake controller install shows a different controller being installed on a 1994 C/K Series, but the procedure on your truck would be similar enough to what's shown in the video.
