Tie-Down Straps for 900 lb Boat Trailer
Question:
We have a Robalo R207. Boat, trailer, fuel, cargo total weight is 4,700 lbs. Trailer weight is 900 lbs. What do I need to look for in tie down straps, i.e. break strength and other appropriate measures

Expert Reply:
In order to choose tie-down straps, you are going to need tie-downs with a break strength that exceeds the weight of the lightest object, so you will want to use straps with a break strength that exceed the weight of your trailer. So I recommend the following straps:
- BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Bow Tie-Down Strap # IMF14220
This strap has a 2,500 lb break strength, and you'll use it in combination with gunwale and transom straps.
- BoatBuckle Heavy Duty Ratchet Transom Tie-Down Straps - 2" x 2' # IMF14206 or 2" x 4' # IMF14207
- BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Gunwale Tie-Down Straps - 38" Long # IMF14221
I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
