How To Use Old Reese 5th Wheel Hitch On 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 With Air Bags
Question:
I have a Reese 5th wheel hitch with a part #30047. I took it out of my old truck and now I’m putting it into a 1997 dodge 2500 4x4. I left my brackets and hardware on old truck! So I’m wondering if I can get the Reese rp56016 custom outboard bracket for my truck? Also in the market for air bag helpers. Thanks

In order to install a Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch like part # RP30047 on a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 you will need to use the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30035. There are no custom or outboard install kits for a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 so the above universal one is your only option.
For air helper springs, there would not be any confirmed fits when using side mount fifth wheel brackets. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2071 could work but the brackets could also interfere and there is no way for us to tell. If you would like to give them a try you are welcome to do so but if not, the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit part # SSA22 are similar and I can confirm will fit with the above.
