Does the Roadmaster Even Brake Braking System Require a Signal From the Motorhome

Question:

Hi, I am installing this on the above vehicle that has the flat tow setting to put the transfer case in neutral. I dont want to hack into the vehicles wiring to install diodes since we will only be towing for short trips 8 hours away max. Im using a wireless light box for brake lights and blinkers. My question is do I need to provide a signal from the motorhome to initiate the braking or will it sense braking on its own without input as long as its powered up? Thanks

The Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Supplemental Braking System part # RM-9400 in its most simplest form is a proportional brake controller. There won't be a direct connection to the tow vehicle's brakes. The unit has an internal inertia sensor which while the unit is powered on will sense deceleration from the tow vehicle and then apply the brakes on the towed vehicle in a value related to the rate of deceleration.

Please note, if the 12 volt outlet isn't powered on while the vehicle is in tow mode then you also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit part # RM-9332.
