Installation of Curt Brake Controller on 2009 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
I found the wires under the dash just want to make sure I am connecting the correct colors to the right colors on the harness. Also is there anything I need to do to make sure this works properly?

When it comes to installing a brake controller like the Curt # C51170 using the adapter # C51515, the color of the wiring isn't always a reliable way to determine the functioning of a wire, so you'll likely want to test the functions using a circuit tester like the # PTW2993. In some cases the colors will match up, but it's not always the case. As long as you're able to match up the correct wires under the dash to the adapter, you'll be able to use the brake controller without issue.
We don't have an installation video of this controller on a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500, but I've linked an installation video of this controller and adapter on another vehicle that you can use as a rough guide.
