What is Max Safe Tire Temperature

Question:

Thank you. Now recommend a TPMS for my Forrest River Trailer. I have 4 wheels, and do not need any for my tow vehicle b/c it shows the pressures. I think I want the flow through sensors.

The typical tire should run about 158 degrees (Farenheidt) once you get going down the road, but this can vary greatly depending on the weight of the trailer, how fast you're traveling, and also driving habits. So while 158 is probably "normal", it isn't really a standard to try to stay at.

I will say that you do want to avoid hitting the 167 mark as that is usually when problems start to arise when you go over that. 200 degrees is when you need to stop and check things out. If you have a TPMS system like the TireMinder (part # TM56FR for example), it has a built-in alert ststem that lets you know when you start to exceed 167 degrees so you can actively monitor that.

If you reach out to the manufacturer for your tires then they might have more of a specific temp number for you to track, but 167 would be more of the high end, and I'm not aware of a "bad" low temperature for trailer tires.

I'd be more than happy to recommend a TPMS system for you! The only 2 options that match your description are from TST. Part # TST-507-FT-4 has 4 flow through sensors and a grayscale display while part # TST-507-FT-4-C has 4 flow through sensors and a color display. The color is a little easier to read just because the different colors help to identify things quicker, but aside from that everything about them is the same. Attached is a review video for you to check out.
