Extra Wire Needed To Install Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter
Question:
Hello, I am considering the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter #20036inch on my 2019 Toyota Highlander. As the installation video indicates, I will need additional wiring to splice into the reverse light wiring. I do not have any scrap wiring around that I can use so I will be purchasing it. I am guessing that it is 14 gauge, but would like confirmation. Would 14 Gauge Primary Wire - Blue - per Foot Item # DW02414-1inch be an appropriate choice? I figure Ill need 5-6 feet of additional wire. thanks,

Expert Reply:
The Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter part # 20036 uses 16 gauge wire for the reverse light circuit. Therefore, you can use the 16 Gauge Primary Wire part # 16-1-1 (per foot). Once you have identified the reverse light circuit on the vehicle you can use the Quick-Splice Connector part # SWC502905-1.
