Reese Goosebox vs Lippert Flex Air Pin Box For 2019 Ram 3500

Question:

We have a 2020 Raptor 423 with the Rota-flex pin box. I have the BandW Companion 5th wheel RVK3600 25000lb hitch that fits my Ram 3500 long bed with the oem puck system. I am looking to upgrade the pin box for more safety and smoother ride, so I was looking at the Flex Air Pin Box or the Reese Goosebox. My issue with the current setup is the BandW is extremely heavy and hard to remove from the truck bed my oneself, so the Reese Goosebox would be a good fix for that, but is it really safer and worth doing or is it best to stick with the 5th wheel hitch, suck up trying to remove the hitch without help and get the Flex Air pin box for the safer and smoother ride? Thanks in advance.

For your situation I would highly recommend a Reese Goose Box as it is totally safe (only adapter solution that doesn't void trailer warranty) and is cushioned due to it having an air bag setup. Since there are far fewer moving parts with gooseneck hitch setups they are much quieter than fifth wheel setup overall as well. Plus you never have to try and install/remove a hitch that weighs several hundred lbs from your truck bed.

Since we know your 2020 Raptor 423 uses a Lippert 1116 style pin box the correct Goose Box fit would then be the # RP94716-61301. My Dad has a Goose Box installed on his camper and he really likes it. He's told me it's quiet and smooth as well.

You might have a gooseneck ball already but if not the B and W part # BWGNXA2062 is the way to go as it has a handle which makes install and removal of the ball easier.
