Troubleshooting PL Error Code of Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller

Question:

I got a new dash put on my dodge. After I got it back I noticed when I’m driving around my trailer brake flashes at me and when I hit the brake it flashes PL? They tell me they just unplugged the controller and plugged it back in but it doesn’t make since it me it didn’t do that before I dropped it off in the shop

The "P.L." code you are seeing on the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 means that there is a power interruption while the brake pedal is depressed. From our experiences this means that you have a poor ground on the white wire or short on the black power wire. This could have easily happened with the work you had done.

I would first start with the white ground wire and attach it directly to the negative battery terminal to see if that fixes the issue. If not then you will need to trace the black power wire from the controller to the battery to see if there are any shorts in-between.
