Can You Tie Into the Rear Aux Port For Power When Installing Trailer Harness On a 2007 Mazda 5

Question:

2007 Mazda 5 - Purchase a trailer hitch years ago from you. was a snap to install. Use for bike Rack. Now I want to tow a small jetski. I found this part. Installation seems easy until the part of running the power line to the battery. The Mazda 5 has a Power outlet right next to where the control module was mounted in the video. Is it possible to attach the power for this harness to that using the included fuse? It is a dead circuit when the key is switched off so no worry of battery drain.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118520 is indeed an excellent option for a 2007 Mazda 5 and rather simple to install or at least straight forward. As mentioned, you need to run the power wire up to the battery. This question gets asked a lot but I can't recommend using the rear auxiliary port as it may not be rated for the amp draw of the harness and sorta defeats the purpose of being a powered kit as you are now relying on the factory wiring so if an issue were to occur you risk damaging the vehicle's wiring.

That said, I have run many power wires in my day and I can assure you it's not as hard as it may seem. It just takes time. The challenging part if you will is the first few feet trying to clear the rear suspension but other than that you just zip tie it to the brake lines and work your way to the front.
