Best Way to Carry Feel Free Durado 125 Kayak with 2019 Honda Accord Sport

Question:

Hello, I purchased a feel free durado 125 and it weighs 125 pounds. I have a 2019 Honda Accord sport, what do you think my best option for transporting it is. I have the rolling system that suctions on the back windshield and I could get a roof rack or should I get a hitch and trailer for it.

Because of the weight of your kayak, I wouldn't recommend carrying it on your roof with a roof rack, as the weight of the kayak combined with the weight of the roof rack kit are likely going to be pushing the safe limits of the roof on your 2019 Honda Accord Sport. For that reason, I recommend using a lightweight trailer like the Malone EcoLight # MAL43FR, which comes with kayak carriers integrated and will give you the ability to carry 2 kayaks and cargo weighing up to 400-lbs (confirmed with my contact at Malone). This is a lightweight trailer that weighs in at around 145-lbs unloaded, so it won't put much strain on your vehicle when towing and makes a good choice for towing with your Honda Accord Sport.

Since you will need a trailer to carry your kayak, you will need some trailer hitch components, which include- a hitch, trailer wiring harness, ball mount and hitch ball. For a hitch, I recommend using the Curt # C11525 since it will be slightly easier to install on your vehicle. You'll also need the Curt Drawbar # C45520 and 2" hitch ball # C40018; this hitch ball is the correct size to match the Malone EcoLight trailer. You'll also need a wiring harness, so I recommend using the Tekonsha # 118776 since the Tekonsha wiring harnesses have a better converter box than the Curt harnesses. This wiring harness will plug in behind the driver and passenger side tail lights for an easy installation and comes with a 4 way flat connector that will connect to the trailer's 4 way flat connector.

I've also linked some informational and installation videos of these products that you may want to have a look at.
