Parts Needed for Flat Towing 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubican with Steel Bumper
Question:
I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubican with a steel bumper. I would like to use my existing Blue Ox Ascent 7500lb tow bar to pull the Jeep with my RV. It looks like the Demco Base Plate - DM 9519339 will work with factory steel bumper on my 2020 model? To adapt to my Blue Ox tow bar I will need the Demco Adaptyer D9523127? For a wiring kit I was thinking the Roadmaster Wiring Kit RM 15267 I also plan on installing a Invisibrake system purchased from ETrailer. Can you think of any other needs I may have for towing this vehicle? Also, can you advise of a installation shop in the San Fran Bay Area? Any estimated hours to install all components? Thank you for your help

I'll start off by saying, it looks like you've got a pretty good idea of what you're looking for-which is great. However, since you have a Blue Ox Ascent # BX4370, I recommend instead going with the Roadmaster EZ5 Baseplates # RM-521453-5 which require the Blue Ox # BX88185 adapter. The reason for this is that the Ascent tow bars use a slightly different adapter connection and this is the only base plate I can confirm, with certainty, will work with your Ascent tow bar. You also may need the Roadmaster # RM-910029 if the pins from your tow bar are too small.
For wiring, the Roadmaster # RM-15267 is one of our most popular tow bar wiring kits and will be a great choice. This kit will work well with the Roadmaster Invisibrake System # RM-8700, which will provide proportional braking and only has to be setup in your Jeep once, so it's an extremely convenient option.
The only other component you may need is a rise/drop adapter; I've gone ahead and linked our selection of those, as well as a help article that you'll want to refer to that shows how exactly to measure for the correct one (if necessary).
While I can't provide you with an exact installation time, it's safe to assume that you'll spend about 4-6 hours installing the base plates, 2-3 hours on the wiring and likely around 4 hours to install the supplemental braking system; most customers spend an entire weekend working on their setups to get them up and running-which as a Jeep owner, you're probably already familiar with doing. I've linked some installation videos of the products we've discussed to this question that you may want to have a look at; they should give you a general idea of what all is entailed and can help you decide whether you want to tackle it yourself or let someone else handle it. Those times mentioned above are estimates, so if you know your way around your vehicle (as a good number of Jeep owners do) it may take you less time.
