Pullrite Superglide Vs Demco Hijacker Auto Slide 5th Wheel Hitch for 2020 Ram 2500

Question:

I have a 2020 Ram 2500 short bed with the factory prep package. I've decided to go with an 18k auto slide hitch but trying to decide between the Demco Hijacker and the Supergilde by Pullrite. Which one is better in your expert opinion? I'm aware I'll need to use a picture frame adapter either way.

You are correct, to install either the Hijacker or the Superglide, you will need to use a rail adapter, like # DM6099. This will add approximately 2 inches of height to your 5th wheel hitch. The 18K Demco Hijacker # DM8550034 offers a height adjustment of 15-1/4 to 18 inches (17-1/4 to 20 inches with adapter), whereas the Superglide is fixed at 18-1/2 inches (20-1/2 inches with adapter). With trucks getting taller and taller these days, you'll be glad you have the height adjustabilty to avoid a potential issue when you go to install and set up your 5th wheel.

Another drawback of the Superglide is that it requires the purchase of a separate capture plate to lock the king pin and preventing from pivoting inside the hitch, as without it, the auto-slide mechanism would not engage. These capture plates are already built into the head of the Hijacker, so no extra parts to install and no extra cost.

Both 5th wheel hitches are made in the U.S.A. and have a reputation for being very solid and well-made products. However, because of its versatility and well thought out design, the Demco Hijacker is clearly the better choice.

I've attached a detailed review video as well as an installation video for the Hijacker on a similar Ram truck for you to check out.
