Slider Base For B&W Companion In 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty Short Bed
Question:
I recently downsized from an F-450 to a short box F-350. I still have the BandW, non-sliding, from my 450 but I believe I need to get a slider to navigate some of the tighter turns when parking. Based upon the other questions I have read I assume I am correct in my assumption. My other concern is how you would slide from the forward, over the road towing, position to the rear, slow and parking, position. Do you have to disconnect the trailer or is it possible to stop, throw the or switch and pull forward or backward to make the adjustment to the other position? I live and camp in Wyoming so finding a perfectly level piece of ground to make this change is a concern I have for throwing that switch. I was also curious if the forward position would be similar in placement to where my current hitch, BWRVK3300, is or does the slide bring the hitch closer to the cab in the forward position by splitting the 12inch slide in half? Sorry for all the questions, but I dont want to order the wrong equipment. Thank you in advance for any information you have!

The great thing about the B&W Companions like part #BWRVK3300 is you can switch switch out the base since you now need a slider base to navigate tighter turns. You can continue to use the head of your Companion part # BWRVC3006 from the F-450 short bed and switch out the base for a slider part # BWRVB3370 in the 2019 Ford F-350.
To switch from towing position to the slider position there is a simple slider handle. You do not need to disconnect the trailer to make turns. You will simply need to lock up the trailer brakes and pull the truck forward or backwards to lock the sliding mechanism into place when making turns. You can do this on somewhat unlevel ground as long as your brakes are locked up. The hitch will be in relatively the same spot as your current hitch while towing. I have attached a really helpful video on the B&W Companion that explains how the sliding mechanism works, this video is on the B&W Gooseneck adapter slider but it will be the same for the OEM prep package version.
