Would Kuat Transfer or Sherpa 2.0 Block Rear View Camera of 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan
Question:
Id like to leave a bike rack mounted on my 2019 Tiguan much of the time. In the folded up position, will the Sherpa 2 obstruct the back-up camera? Would the Transfer 2 be less likely to obstruct the camera?

Either rack would likely interfere with the camera to a degree, as the camera sits at the top of the license plate, but because the Transfer's frame is U-shaped with only the arms that hold the bike wheels in place going across, they will interfere much less than those of the Sherpa # SH22G would. The Sherpa is a more traditional design with a central rib and transverse mounted rails that the bikes would sit on. These structures would be much more likely to interfere with the camera.
Even if one of the Kuat # KU74FR Transfer's arms were right in front of the camera, you'd still have plenty of field of vision to see obstacles before they become a problem.
I've provided a photo of how either bike rack looks folded up against the rear of a vehicle. As you can see, there's a lot less of the Transfer to cause problems, plus that U-shaped frame makes loading and unloading that inside bike much easier.
