Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2011 Mazda CX-7
Question:
We have mounted the hitch trailer part 75512 to our Mazda CX-7. the bicycle rack once mounted and we put the bicycle in the inner hoops the pedal is hitting the bumper. should we change the bicycle rack we purchased or add an extender?

Expert Reply:
Adding a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent so I do not recommend it. I am sure you have tried different pedal positions and if nothing is working then a different rack may be the way to go.
A rack like the Swagman Chinook, # S64683, will give you plenty of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the bikes. It measures 12-1/2 inches form the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the bike rack.
