Is Yakima Fullback Safe with Upper Pads on Rear Glass of 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hatch
Question:
So referring to the question made here... I see that the Fullback actually goes on top of the glass of the rear window, is there any risk of damaging the glass at all? Im a bit iffy about attaching something that could potentially damage a large and expensive piece of the vehicle, but I need an option that can carry 2-3 bikes when my roof rack is otherwise occupied.

I found the picture you referenced for the Yakima Fullback # Y02634 installed on a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq that shows the upper pads contacting the rear glass. The reality is that the upper pads and hooks of basically all trunk racks end up on the rear glass for vehicles and it's never an issue. The reason is because the weight of the rack and bikes is almost all on the lower pads that are on the rear door and the upper hooks. I know it seems risky but this application was tested extensively on your vehicle and it fit and performed will with no damage to the vehicle so it is safe and would work well!
If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
