Why is There a Trailer Hitch Available for 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport When Manual Says Not to Tow?

The owners manual for my 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport says that my vehicle is not rated for towing, yet I'm seeing that there are available hitches; Why would they make a hitch for a vehicle that isn't supposed to tow anything?

This is a great question, and it really comes down to the fact that manufacturers will make just about anything that there is a demand for and a hitch provides more functionality than just towing a trailer.
