According to Roadmaster, the Tow Defender, part # RM-4750 would work perfectly fine with a 4th Generation (2012-2015) Honda CR-V with no concern needed regarding transmission cooling. This caveat about transmission cooling is something GM has started putting in the owner's manual for later model vehicles.

The way the Tow Defender sits when installed, roughly at the height of the vehicle's front bumper, will still to allow plenty of airflow. Plus, the open weave or screen-like nylon fabric will allow for all the air circulation you'd require.

Since the Roadmaster base plate kit you have is a direct connect base plate the correct rock guard is the part #RM-4750. This is a protective screening like you can see in the attached picture.
