Question:

Can you please explain why the Sidewinder king pins will not work with the BandW 5th wheel hitch? Thank you.

There are two types of B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches, the Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel like part # BWRVK3500 and OEM like part # BWRVK3300. If you have the Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel then you cannot use a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder as the singular connection point is not sufficient to endure the added stress a rotating pin box creates. If you have the OEM then you can use a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder # RP61412 as there are three to four connection points which is sufficient to endure the added stress a rotating pin box creates.

The best route to take will be dependent on the size of the truck bed. If you have a 5-1/2' bed then you will have to use a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder which means the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter and B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch won't work. For a 2018 Ford F-150, the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50087-58 can take its place. If you have a 6-1/2' bed you can just use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3400 and lock-out the turret on the pin box.
