Ground Clearance of Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2018 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
Question:
I am going to mount a curt 1-1/4 hitch on a 2018 Subaru Impreza hatchback. I am concerned it might drag on the ground as i back out of the driveway. It is on an incline. I have 14 inches of clearance from were the brackets gets attached to the vehicle. There is no mention of the clearance needed. Will there be a problem?

When we installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11465 on a 2018 Subaru Impreza hatchback, we found that it measured 11-3/4" from the top of the receiver to the ground. If you subtract 2" for the receiver and about 1/4" for the collar of the receiver, the hitch will be approximately 9-1/2" from the bottom of the receiver to the ground.. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "clearance needed" as there isn't any way I can tell you if the hitch is going to hit the ground or not on your driveway. It depends on how steep it is and there isn't a formula of some sort that I can give you. It's possible, but you would have to have quite a steep incline/decline for this hitch to hit the ground as you are backing out.
I have added a link to a video showing Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11465 being installed on an '18 Impreza hatchback for you to take a look at.
