Will the Yakima HangOut 3Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Work on a 2012 BMW X5
Question:
Does the Yakima fit on a 2010 BMW X5s rear tailgate?

According to our friends at Yakima, the HangOut, part # Y02638, will indeed work on your 2010 BMW X5.
When attached to the vehicle, the weight capacity of the rack is 30 lbs per bike, and you will want to be sure NOT to use the rear wiper while the rack is in place, or it will be damaged.
For women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # Y02531 is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
To deter theft, a steel reinforced security strap, # Y02623, is available to secure the rack to the vehicle. A lockable cable, part # Y07233, and lock cores, # Y07202, are also recommended.
