Do I Need to Wire in the Circuit Breaker When Hard Wiring Rear View Safety Backup Camera System?

Attn: Jason S What is the purpose of the 40 amp circuit breaker? The camera has an inline 3 amp fuse. Can the circuit breaker be eliminated?

You are correct that the cameras on the RearView Safety # RVS-770614 have an inline 3 amp fuse for an added layer of protection for the electrical components. When it comes to the circuit breaker # 9510 that was mentioned when wiring into a switch like the # D16740, this is more of a precautionary measure to help protect the electrical components in the system, as well as the switch that is being used in the event of an electrical malfunction.
I spoke with my contact at Rear View Safety and they mentioned that the circuit breaker can be eliminated from this installation without concern and is not something that they explicitly recommend; with that being said, I believe that the expert answer you're referring to was something that was made in an effort to help further safeguard the investment being made from being damaged by electrical backfeed of some type.
