Does 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali Come with Factory Rails for 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

Looking at buying a 2019 Denali 3500, does the vehicle come with factory rails for a 5th wheel hitch or is that after market?

Great question! You can actually purchase the 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 Denali with a factory puck package (that sits flush with your truck bed) or there are aftermarket options for using a 5th wheel hitch as well (which are offered with rails above or below the bed). If you decide to go aftermarket then I do recommend getting rails that sit below the bed because then when you aren't towing your 5th wheel hitch you have full access to your truck bed.

Just for reference, B&W offers 5th wheel hitches that match up with the factory pucks as well as an underbed kit. The Companion 20K # BWRVK3700 and 25K # BWRVK3705 are what you'd use for an 8' bed with the pucks, while the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1016 and Companion 20K # BWRVK3500 is what you'd use for an 8' bed and an aftermarket kit (use the Companion # BWRVK3400 with the gooseneck hitch for a short bed).

The advantage of the factory puck system is that you don't have to install anything and the 5th wheel hitches that fit the pucks tend to be a bit lighter. The advantage of the aftermarket system is that you would likely save some money (if you do the install yourself) and if you went with the B&W setup mentioned above you get the gooseneck hitch too. This is helpful in the event that you have to gooseneck tow plus it will add some major value to the pickup whenever you decide to upgrade in the future.

No matter which way you go, I do recommend getting the 8' bed for your pickup because it eliminates the need to use a heavy sliding 5th wheel hitch that is typically needed to keep your 5th wheel trailer from making contact with your truck cab during tight turning situations.

If you have any other questions just let me know and I'd be happy to help out! I've attached some photos of what the B&W gooseneck hitch looks like installed on a '19 Denali 3500. The hitch ball actually stores upside down in the receiver so that's one less thing you have to keep track of.
