Do Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitches Require a Stabilizer Strap on a 2009 Subaru Forester
Question:
Some hitches require additional straps for use with a bike carrier, I imagine to take weight and stress off the hitch mounts. Is this also required or recommended with this model? This is for a 2009 Subaru Forester.

Curt hitches that cannot be used with weight distribution systems require a stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer load such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, to be in compliance with the Curt warranty requirements. If you would just be towing a trailer you would not need to use the strap.
The Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch trailer hitches (like # 75650) do not require the use of a stabilization strap. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing a typical installation for you.
If you ever plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring, use # 118467. I have included informational links on the wiring as well.
