What Would Using Weight Distribution with Trailer with Varying Weights Be Like

Question:

Im going to be towing a 3 horse bumper pull trailer. Sometimes it will be empty and only weighing 3500 lbs., with one horse and its gear about 5,000, which is the maximum my F150s factory hitch can tow without weight distribution. With 2 horses we are up to 6,500 lbs and with a full trailer up to 8,000 or so. The trucks hitch has a Weight Distributing hitch capacity of 11,300 lbs and the truck itself is rated to tow 9,000 lbs. With towing a trailer that will be such varying weights , will I be able to leave a hitch like the Curt LIGHT-DUTY TRUTRACK WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM 5K - 8K LBS., 35-9/16inch BARS #17499 on or would I be taking it off and putting it back on all the time? If so is there a better option? Thanks

If you use a weight distribution system on a trailer that will see varying weights you'll end up having to set the system up from scratch every time the weight changes to get the full benefit of the system. This will take some time to do everytime, but it will give you a great towing setup.

If the goal is to reduce sag when towing a more easy solution would be an air bag suspension enhancement kit that would easily allow you to adjust the rear suspension support. I'd need to know what year F-150 you have though to be sure I get you the right fit.

Also worth mentioning is that the Curt TruTrack you'd need is the part # C17500 as your trailer loaded would weigh more than what the kit you mentioned would be rated for.
