Removing Two 30 lb Propane Tanks and Replacing Them With 100 lb Propane Tank

Question:

Good Morning, I have a 2005 Jayco Eagle 325BHS fifth wheel on a permanent camp site lot at Norris Lake. I want to remove the two 30 gal tanks from the camper not use them and put in a single 100 gal in place of them. The current regulator two way is on the front door side of the camper and has a 12 ft hose line that runs out the left side of the regulator under the front of the trailer to a small regulator then a 1 foot line to tank #2. Tank #1 door side is hooked to the right side of the regulator with a 1 foot line to the tank #1. The trailer main gas lines that go to the stove, hot water, and furnace hooks in the bottom of the main regulator. Can I just unhook tank #2 from the main regulator and use a 1/4 inch brass plug, and plug the left output side on the regulator completely, buy a 5 or 6 foot hose from etrailer to go from the new 100 gal tank to the right side of the regulator and turn the black lever on that main regulator to the right that the 100 gal is now hooked to. Please let me know what you think and what I need to purchase. Many folks there have done this just not sure it this is the correct way. Thanks

You can remove your two 30 lb tanks and add a 100 lb tank, but you will need a number of parts, including a new regulator for a single tank. What you will need are the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay Propane Fill Hose - POL Pigtail x 1/4" Male Inverted Flare - 3' # 100019-36 to attach to your tank, then the MB Sturgis Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator # 108221.

You will need to attach the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Fitting w/ Back Check - 1/4" Female Inverted Flare x 1/4" MPT # 204120-MBS to the regulator in order to attach the hose, and finally a hose assembly to attach to the regulator, either with a 1/2" female flare such as the 5 foot Hose Assembly # 100383-60-MBS or 3/8" female flare (depending on your connection), the 6 foot # 100040-72-MBS. The correct flare size will depend on your RV's piping system, and most are 1/2" but I recommend taking a look to verify the correct size.

I've added links to some video reviews as well as links to help articles on propane I recommend checking out.
