2012 Nissan Frontier Flickering Lights, No Trailer Brake Light Flashing

Question:

I purchased a camper and had a receiver hitch, equalizer hitch, and trailer brake installed as well. The mechanic informed me that there was not a 4 way plug underneath the truck so he tied into the electrical if the taillight. When connected, the lights work but when I signal both truck and camper will flicker then not do anything. The camper would also not flash brake lights, but the truck did. He seems to think it is blinker relay that is weak in my truck. Wondering if this could be the issue or maybe the fact he tied into the twilights and they are being maxed out?

It is very possible that if the trailer wiring is hardwired into the truck it's overloading the factory circuits. For your 2012 Nissan Frontier I would recommend the Curt T connector trailer wiring # C56225. This harness comes with the necessary relays that will need to be installed to activate the towing circuits.

By adding the trailer lights to the Frontier's factory circuits it most likely is putting too much of a load on that particular circuit. You can check the signals coming out of the connector with # PTW2993 Hook Probe Circuit Tester to verify that the signals are getting to the connector, that way you can isolate if the problem is the trailer or truck.
