Best Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2019 Nissan Titan XD Short Bed With Factory Gooseneck

Question:

So I have a 2019 nissan titan xd with the short bed. it has the factory gooseneck which I like but I'd like to tow a fifth wheel trailer. I've been told I'll need an adapter, which is fine, but I'd really like to know what you consider the best 5th wheel hitch is for this set up?

The best fifth wheel hitch for your 2019 Nissan Titan XD short bed with the factory gooseneck is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide because unlike other sliding fifth wheel hitches, the Hijacker does not require you to leave your Nissan's cab just to make a sharp turn. That type of convenience alone makes the Hijacker a great option, but what truly makes it the best hitch for you is that it also has a premier jaw system and cushioned head which means you get the most comfortable ride possible when traveling.

The Hijacker is available in two different towing capacities, 18,000 lbs at part # DM8550034 and 21,000 lbs at part # DM8550035, and you are right that you'll need an adapter, the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Nissan Titan XD OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6200 to mount the hitch in your Titan.

The auto-slide on the Hijacker is one of those features that is so accommodating, you'll wonder why anyone uses a manual sliding hitch. With short bed trucks, in order to make a sharp turn and keep your trailer from crashing into your cab, a slide is necessary, but let's face it, there are inopportune times for that situation to come up. Whether it's a downpour of rain or sweltering outside or you're just plain tired after a weekend of camping, the last thing anyone wants to do is get out of their truck and go through the process of activating the slide just to make a turn. The Hijacker Autoslide lets you avoid having to do any of that.

The benefit of an automatic slide wouldn't be worth much if the hitch didn't also have an outstanding connection with your king pin to give you a much quieter ride with less rattling and slack in the jaws than with other hitches. The Hijacker has a single-piece jaw that wraps totally around the king pin, and that connection is reinforced via a 3/4" solid steel bar that locks into place once the jaw is closed. The Hijacker also utilizes cushioned dampeners to optimize your comfort as you are travelling.

Both Hijackers, the 18,000 lb model # DM8550034 and 21,000 lb model # DM8550035 give you 14" of front-to-back travel for maximum clearance and they have three different height settings (15-1/2", 16-3/4", and 18-1/4") to ensure your trailer is level as you tow. I have added links to video reviews of the hitch and adapter for you to check out as well.
