Carrying A Golf Cart In A 2018 Nissan Titan XD Diesel And Towing A 2020 Forest River Grey Wolf 29TE

Question:

Hi. I have 2018 Nissan Titan XD Diesel 4x4 crew cab. Camper is 2020 Forest River Grey Wolf 29TE. Have e2 Equalizer weight dib and sway. Trailer also has electric tongue jack. I want to tailgate and extend hitch point to throw a golf cart in the bed of my truck. Can I do it safely and what accessories are needed? Thanks.

Per the Nissan Titan brochure for 2018, the Nissan Titan XD Diesel 4x4 crew cab has a 2,080lb maximum payload. Golf carts are about 1,000lbs usually and are typically right at 8 feet in length. If your truck bed is 8 feet you will have most likely right at 30 percent of the golf cart's weight as 300lbs of additional tongue weight.

To determine if your golf cart is pushing you over the limits use the GCWR of your Titan (can be found on the sticker on your driver's side door jamb), subtract the curb weight of the pickup along with the weight of passengers, cargo, the golf cart, and your loaded trailer. If you come out with a positive number then you should be good to go. If that number ends up in the negative then you will be overloading your pickup.

Combined with the fully loaded weight of your 2020 Forest River Grey Wolf 29TE (6,428 lbs dry weight) it's important to make sure your Fastway is still up to the task. What model do you currently have? We have a number of weight distribution shanks providing extension like part # FA92-02-4100 depending on your rise, drop, and length needed. This one provides 12" of length for example plus 6-1/4" of rise and 2-1/4" of drop. A longer shank will help get the trailer jack further away from your truck to help with keeping the tail gate open.

The Arched Loading Ramp Set # 288-07452-2 would be a good choice in loading your cart. These ramps are arched which will help prevent the golf cart from bottoming out and are also 88-9/16 inches long. They also are our best priced option as well.

If you don't already have tie downs for your tires then I recommend using the Erickson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps w/ Push Button Releases 1,333 lbs - Qty 2 # 34414ATV
