I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2013 Chevy Avalanche and it does state that snow chains should only be installed on the rear tires. While it might technically be possible, I don't recommend adding chains to the front wheels as it could lead to damage on the truck.
I do also want to mention that the manual states that chains shouldn't be used at all on the truck if it's equipped with 275/55R20 sized tires, as there isn't a lot of wheel well clearance to work with. Obviously in certain areas tire chains are required so you will just want to use your best judgement.
If you decide to put snow chains onto the rear tires I highly recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2327, which are confirmed to fit 275/55R20 tires and are Class S rated, meaning they are specifically designed for trucks like yours that have limited clearance. The links are only 0.145" thick.
These chains are easily installed using the integrated tensioners and color-coded components. I have attached a short video demonstration so you can see exactly how they are put on.
