Tire Chain Recommendation for Tire Size 275/55R20

Question:

Perhaps you can help me. I own a 2016 F150 4x4 that I purchased new a few months ago. It came equipped with 275 55R 20 tires with chrome wheels. The owners manual lists the tires that are okay to use with chains/cables. My tires are not on the list. It does state that if chains or cables are used they must be SAE S certified. I called Ford customer service for further clarification and they advised that I contact my local Ford dealer. My dealer is not in a snow area but I called them anyway. They couldnt help. I then called several dealers in snow areas and they declined assistance because Ford does not offer a chain or cable and suggested I contact a tire or chain dealer. Do you advise a particular diamond chain or would you suggest a cable for the clearance requirement? I read that both of the ones you show are SAE S certified. What other attachments or aids would you suggest? Thank you in advance,

Tire chain fits can be a bit frustrating since nobody typically wants to be the one to say "yes" to using them since it opens them up to liability if there is a problem. What we can tell you is that Class S tire chains will give you the best clearance. The best option will be the Titan chains part # TC2327 which are a confirmed fit for your tire size of 275/55R20. These chains have great clearances, great traction, and are pretty easy to install.

I attached an install video that shows these chains installed on a very similar 2015 Ford F-150 as yours for you to check out as well.

These will fit and work well, BUT we can't give you the final authorization to use chains on your vehicle. You will have to get that from a Ford dealer or decide to use them without their approval which a lot of people have to do since some areas require chains.
