Trailer Lights Stay On After Tow Vehicle is Shut Off
Question:
I just added a junction box to my trailer and now when I turn my tow vehicle off the lights on the trailer stay on. So far I have replaced the plug and wires as well as replaced the plug on the vehicle end as it was not working before. What else do I need to look at.

Somehow you're getting bleed-over from the 12-volt accessory circuit to the lights on the trailer. This most frequently occurs due to corrosion in the trailer connector on the vehicle or on the trailer. Since you've recently replaced these, then we'll look at the junction box. What's likely happened is that the tabs on the ring terminals are contacting each other. When tightening the ring terminals down on the lugs in the junction box, be sure that none of the ring terminals are touching each other.
Another possibility-you don't mention the year, make or model of the vehicle, but if you had to install a powered taillight converter on the vehicle to tap into the taillight circuits, it's possible that the converter box might have shorted internally to its power supply. This also would supply constant power to the outputs.
I've linked you to some articles with more information on trailer wiring. I hope you find them helpful.
