Reverse Function on the Dutton-Lainson Brake Winch Self-Locking - 2500 Pounds

Question:

Hello, I recently purchased this winch from you. Once mounted on my trailer, it seems to be difficult to unwind the cable. I release the handle by turning backwards and cannot pull out the cable by walking it out. Do i have to turn backwards the whole way to unwind the cable?

The Dutton-Lainson Brake Winch, # DL15721, you have does not have a freewheel option. This winch uses an automatic friction brake to prevent runaway loads. This means you will have to turn the handle counter clockwise to unwind the cable from the winch.

We carry the Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Winch, # F142412, that is around the same capacity as your winch and has a neutral, freewheeling option.
