Could Trailer with Hub Bearings LM67048 and 11947 be Converted to Disc Brakes

Question:

I have a boat trailer that has drum brakes that use the DICO 15638 drum with the 1 1/4 inner bearing 67048 and 3/4 outer bearing 11949. Is there a disc brake conversion available. If not would it work to replace the drum with a hub and then use a rotor that goes over the hub?

Expert Reply:

What you could do is install the hubs that fit your spindle part # DX22XR and then use a slip on style disc brake kit that matches the bolt pattern of these hubs 5 on 4-1/2 inches like the # K2R35D which will bolt up to the same brake mounting flange you have now and give you a Dacromet set of brakes that will fit well.
