How Straps of Yakima FullBack Trunk Mount Bike Rack Install on 2019 Hyundai Ioniq

You show a picture of a trunk bike rack.... Is it attached to the top of the glass and is that safe?

Expert Reply:
Are the mounting hooks attached to the glass? Kind of. The hooks will actually be ran inside the vehicle as shown in the diagram I've provided for you. The procedure is explained in more detail in the installation instructions beginning on pages # 4, 5 and 6 of the installation instructions. As long as the rack is installed per the instructions, and the weight of the bikes do not exceed 30 lbs apiece (the capacity is reduced by 5 lbs per bike, because the hooks are used in anchor mode) the rack will be safe.
If you will be carrying women's bikes with step through frames or bikes with slanted top tube, you might benefit from using a frame adapter bar like # 64005. The adapter bar attaches to the seat post and the handlebar gooseneck providing a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike will be carried level.
