Why Does the Flash E Series Adjustable Ball Mount Rattle While Driving

Question:

Does this rattle due to pin diameters being smaller than pin holes? What would remedy this if it does rattle? Thanks.

The hitch balls on the Flash E Series Adjustable Ball Mount, # FA42-00-2800, will rattle somewhat in the ball mount when not towing. The rattle is due to the shank of the hitch ball being narrower than the mounting slot on the shank of the ball mount. While towing the rattle will be minimal because the weight on the hitch ball will push the hitch ball shank into the slot on the ball mount.

If the rattle you are experiencing is at your trailer hitch receiver, then that can be easily remedied with an anti-rattle hitch pin like part # SR25219 because the shank on the ball mount is hollow. There are no anti-rattle devices for the hitch ball on this ball mount. I have attached a video showing how to install the anti-rattle hitch pin for you to check out.
