Is the CURT Q20 hitch overkill to tow a 12,700 GVW TRAILER

There is really no such thing as overkill when selecting a 5th wheel hitch like the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16130 or A20 Slider # C16541 because there are no adverse affects to selecting a 5th wheel hitch that is grossly overrated for the weight of the trailer. The cost of a higher rated 5th wheel hitch will be more yes but in terms of longevity, you will be coming out ahead. Also, although never really planned for most many people upgrade trailers several times throughout their time and this higher rated option allows you to upgrade the trailer without needing to upgrade the hitch as well in many cases.
In short, the heavier rated hitch will last longer with a lighter trailer several thousand pounds under capacity than it would with a trailer only a few thousand pounds under capacity.
