Do All Base Plates for a 2010 Kia Soul Require Trimming

Question:

Do I need to cut parts as in the Blue Ox and other base plate? I have a 2010 Soul in which I use a Tow Dolly but would like to convert to Blue Ox type of towing. Also, do I need a braking system since the vehicle is only about 2000 pounds. I would be towing it behind a 2016 Fleetwood Expedition Diesel - 32400 pounds

Yes, all of the base plate kits for your 2010 Kia Soul will require trimming. That said, the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit part # DM9518246 only requires slight trimming of a small plastic piece (see photo) which is not seen from outside the vehicle so this will not be a big deal at all. I recommend using the Demco Commander II Non-Binding Tow Bar part # DM9511012 with the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit as the independent arm design makes the system very easy to attach and the head tilt mechanism reduces the need for a high-low adapter.

In regards to the need for a supplemental braking system, this will vary by state regulations so you will need to check this before hand. If you do need a supplemental braking system as per state regulations then I recommend the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System part # SM99243 due to the ease of installation.
