Question:
I have a 2017 Forest River Wildwood 27 rlss. I would like carry my Generator using the bumper hitch you recommend but an concerned the combined weigh of the carrier you also recommend and my generator approx 285 lbs may be too heavy for the standard bumper.. Can you verify or validate or provide any recommendations? Thank you.

In order to verify the rear bumper capacity of your 2017 Forest River Wildwood 27RLSS Trailer you will need to contact Forest River with your VIN. The closest thing I could track down with regards to a bumper rating was inside a more general Forest River owner's manual that advised against placing heavier items on it. Unfortunately trailer manufacturer's don't typically make information like this available.
The Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100 that you referenced has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. This means that even if you find that the bumper is sufficiently rated to handle this kind of weight you're still going to be creeping up pretty close to the hitch's capacity when you factor in both the 285 pound generator and the weight of the carrier itself.
With this in mind I honestly think your best option is with a frame-mount hitch like the Curt # C13704. This will bolt or weld onto the trailer frame for a much more stable connection that doesn't just rely on the bumper strength. The hitch itself has a 500 pound tongue weight limit and it can fit frame widths that are 22 to 66 inches.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out along with the written installation manual.
