The best 5th wheel hitch available for the new 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the 6.9 foot bed and without the factory prep package is the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3400-5W along with the Installation Kit # BWGNRK1020-5W.
The B&W Companion line of hitches are considered by many to be the absolute best on the market. This is in large part due to its heavy-duty construction that includes 1 inch thick dual jaws that provide an incredibly secure connection to the trailer that not only gives you peace of mind during travel but also allows for a really smooth ride without the chucking and bounce that you get from a lot of other models. Its fully articulating head greatly eases hookup and the slider gives you 12 inches of front to back travel so you don't have to worry about cab interference when making tighter turns. It has a 20,000 pound weight capacity and is made in the USA.
Another great thing about this setup is the installation rails. The mounting kit for the Companion serves as a gooseneck hitch as well, so your truck will already be equipped with the components necessary to pull a gooseneck trailer if the need ever arises down the line. Because the Companion mounts right into the gooseneck hole, this also allows for a completely clean bed free of any base rails when the 5th wheel hitch is removed.
The Companion can be easily broken down into two manageable pieces when it's time to remove it from the truck bed.
I have attached a couple short video demonstrations on this system that you can check out as well.
